“Why Cooking?”
It all started when Cookie told me his living-room-at-8pm little chat with his mom. This took place in 2011’s last quarter (I forget).
His Mom (HM): What’s Shinta currently doing?
Cookie (C): Well, she teaches every day from Monday to Friday. And writes articles for a small IS company.
Note: As lecturer as his mom is, there’s no day without writing. So, we can see that Cookie chose that kind of answer on purpose.
HM: Oh, she writes, too? Good! Go get marry her.
C: Hahahaa
HM: But make sure her cooking skill is first to be improved.
C: HAHA
That last sentence, my friend, was a direct heart stabber. I can easily relate that last sentence to those too-oily chicken, too-hard cookies, too-soft cookies, and many other “quite good” cookings I ever sent to him.
On the contrary, Cookie’s mom is a culinary wonder. I remember those super delicious macaroni schotel, kastengel cookies, cornflake cookies, dendeng kangaroo, gepuk, etc his mom ever made then sent to me in return.
Yeah, I felt like being challenged. :p
What a right timing it was, since I have been completely busy-less from December 2011 on.
Free time + challenge from your future mom-in-law = cooking experiments
The best part is not about success in practicing, though. It is when I realized that I found a new love: cooking is fun!
So, let’s see how far I can go with this.

(@heyreea and @giovaniari, best kitchen -and conspiration- partners. dont ask me what “conspiration” stands for)
p.s. my mom is happy, too. now, she has a kitchen assisstant to accompany her every day.
