The Failed Beauty Class

Kemarin, saya, @carmayden, dan @giovaniari datang ke #FemmeTalks nya @caring_colours. Awalnya, saya kira ini beauty class. Si Mamah, yang nyuruh saya dan Karin datang karena kasihan anaknya belum pernah ikut beauty class, pun mengira begitu. Jadi, Mamah tahu acara ini dari booth di sebuah swalayan. Sepik SPG-nya kira-kira begini, “Nanti dapat dua produk gratis, Bu. Satunya bedak two way cake, satunya lagi bisa milih antara eyeshadow atau blush on.” Si Mamah tertarik, “Ini beauty class, Mbak?” “Emm, semacamnya, Bu.”

Se-ma-cam-nya.

Later on, it turned out to be career-motivation seminar. And cosmetic products campaign. Terus dapet gratisan(?)nya cuma bedak. SPG kampret. Tapi ya sudahlah, we had fun. ;)

Oh ya, seminar(?) kemarin menghadirkan beberapa pembicara, di antaranya ada beberapa pemenang Caring Colours Young Professional Award (YCPA). Tiap peserta dikasih booklet yang memuat biodata, foto, kegiatan keseharian, dan wawancara dengan kedelapan wanita karier tersebut. Yang bikin si Qunyuq terbelalak adalah profil salah satu pemenang, yaitu VP Corporate Branding, Marketing & Communication di salah satu perusahaan asuransi ternama yang ternyata adalah… lulusan Arsitektur ITB. FYI, si Qunyuq ini kuliah jurusan Manajemen dan pacarnya jurusan Arsitektur. Jadi, perasaannya pasti… campur aduk.

Dear honorable architects, engineers, and agro/agribusiness graduates… why don’t you work in your own field?

p.s. According to me, the coolest speaker was Mrs. Marlin Sugama (producer, writer, and co-founder of www.main-studios.com). She talked about the true meaning of ‘beauty’, the fact that Barbie’s body is not a human’s body, and how to protect our (future) children from such narrowed concept of beauty that attacks them 24/7. Agree, Sis!

The 2nd Indoor Theme Park in Indonesia

Just google the title and you’ll realize that I’m talking about Trans Studio Bandung. Yeay!

Me, Cookie, @carmayden, and @aditfurk managed to try about half of the rides. According to us me, the best rides were: Kong Climb (because it was my first wall climbing, hehehe), Marvel 4D Studio (well, you can’t go wrong with Marvel), and Yamaha Racing Coaster (the 37-second ride which felt like flying).

But strangely, we spent most time (1 hour out of 5,5 hours) in Science Center. *geek is the new rockstar* 

FYI, the roller coaster is no joke. It is claimed as the 8th fastest roller coaster in the world.

A few tips:

  • Eat first before you enter the theme park since: (1) you will need lots of energy, (2) the food sold in the area is either mediocre or overpriced.
  • Smuggle some snacks or beverages by tuck them in your jacket to avoid bag checking in the entrance. :p
  • Bring additional clothes so you can try Jelajah: the only ride that involves lots of water.

  • Mungkin anak-anaknya beliau harus berhenti dengerin MP3 yang provokatif kenceng-kenceng di rumah.

Tenaga Kerja Gratisan

  • Mama: Kapan ya kita punya pembantu lagi..
  • p.s. Pembantu terakhir, Mba Las, nggak diijinin kerja oleh suaminya setelah nikah. Padahal si mbak ini the best. Sampai bela-belain minta anter si Karon ke toserba demi beli piyama bercorak stroberi buat kado ulang tahun saya. And she did it for the three of us. : '(
  • Saya: Yaah, ada waktu buat semuanya Mah. *perkara pembantu kok berasa jodoh*
  • Mama: Tapi di sisi lain, lumayan sih mama jadi hemat Rp700.000/bulan.
  • Saya: Iya, enak ya Mah. Kalo anaknya yang kerja kan GRATIS. *ngomong sambil masak dan nyuci piring*
  • Mama: Hahaha!

His First AV?

  • Let's talk about sex. Not the one you're having in your perverted mind right now (laugh). I meant the sex education thing.
  • It's my 12 year-old brother's first year in junior high school. His name is Adit, but I prefer to call him Menyem. We still disturb each other every day. Even though he was circumcised +-3 years ago, he still looks like an elementary student. So does his cute voice, you can't tell whether it's a boy or girl when you hear him by phone.
  • No wonder, his classmates in junior high school call him "adek" (= little bro).
  • This story happen a few days ago. I was sitting in front of laptop in my bedroom that night. Without knocking, he entered my room.
  • A: Mbak Shinta, can I borrow Toshiba later?
  • S: Well, it's a public laptop. Sure you can.
  • FYI, it's unusual for him to ask permission to use that idle laptop.
  • A: But I want to carry the laptop to my bedroom..
  • This is strange. Every time he played game on that laptop, he always did it at my room. Like I said, he likes to disturb me.
  • S: *suspiscious* And why do you need to bring it to your room?
  • A: I want to watch a dvd my friend will lend me.
  • S: *eureka!* Ah, I feel like watching movie, too. Can we watch together?
  • A: *uncomfortable* Noooo way!
  • S: Why? By the way, what is the movie's title?
  • A: I dunno.. eerrr I forgot hehehe
  • S: Huh. Can I borrow the dvd soon after you watch it, then?
  • A: *cornered* Umm... okay.
  • .
  • I definitely can't wait to catch him in the act and go tell mom. *evil grin*
  • I'm an annoying sister, I know.
